Current Goal

This Travel Bug is Entered in The USA to UK Travel Bug Race

A few local GeoCachers have got together to run a Travel Bug Race.

The Bugs have been released by “Honeychile” in North Carolina in the USA.

The object of the race is for Bugs to get back to the ' Farley Mount Highwayman' cache in the UK as soon as possible.

The status of participating Bugs can be found on the Leaderboard.

There needs to be some rules, and here they are:

Bugs must be logged into at least one other cache in the USA (After initial release)
The Travelbug racer must be placed in at least 5 caches by at least 5 different GeoCachers
The Travelbug may not travel by post at any stage of the race
Virtual & Locationless caches may not be used
Travel Bugs must visit at least one country other than the USA and England (Scotland , Ireland or Wales WILL count as another country)
Substitute Travelbugs may replace lost or stolen bugs but must recommence the journey from North Carolina USA
Travel Bugs should finish the race in ' The Farley Mount Highwayman!'
Only one Travel Bug may be entered per Team
In the event of a tie, the bug which travels the greatest distance will be the winner

Looks like Hank Hedgehog may have flown away on December 5th. There's a log entry for that date that says "Took cards, stuffed animal, and duckie. Left three bracelets." Garnerway's Dec. 8th cache log notes that the stuffed animal taken on the 5th may have been Hank and I think it's a good possibility. Couldn't quite read the signature for the log on Dec. 5th -- may be something like Hannah B? Hope Hank shows up soon!

Get ready . . . get set . . . The box of bugs arrived this week and I'm planning to put them all out on Saturday, September 18th. Note that weather conditions are very iffy because of Hurricane Ivan. The hurricane will not make it this far inland, but it is sending plenty of winds and rain across the Carolinas. If weather conditions do not permit release of the bugs on Saturday, I will take a day of vacation and release the bugs the first dry day!
