Secondarily, to visit historical locations throughout North Carolina, the United States, and beyond.
This unique geocoin is my reward for having been one of the first 250 individuals who successfully completed the Johnston County Heritage GeoTrail (JCHGT), consisting of 50 special geocaches hidden at locations all around Johnston County, North Carolina. Fifty sites across all 11 municipalities in Johnston County, as well as in the unincorporated areas, were chosen to highlight the history of the county. These include various types of geocaches, most made and donated by cachers from the area.
The Johnston County Heritage GeoTrail was organized and is managed by the Johnston County Visitors Bureau in partnership with local, avid geocache hobbyists. The
Kick Off Event for this geotrail was conducted on April 29, 2017 at the Smithfield Recreation Park. I completed the requirements for earning award of this geocoin on May 24, 2017, proudly being the first contender to do so.
