Coin

Alert, Nunavut, is the most northerly inhabited settlement in the world. With coordinates 82°28' N, 62°30' W, it is only 817 kilometres away from the North Pole. Alert is located on the northeastern tip of Ellesmere Island in the Canadian Arctic. Alert, originally inhabited by the Inuit, was born as a joint Canadian, US weather station in 1950.

Picked up on a chilly, drizzly New Jersey day. This coin is about to embark on a loooooooong journey to the other side of the world. After a quick stop in Ohio, it will make its way to as close as we can get it to Christchurch New Zealand. From there, I expect it might be able to hop a boat or plane to Antarctica, and get to see both poles... who knows? We'll drop it off just after New Year's Day.
