Datsun Cherry N10 tuli myyntiin vuonna 1978, tämä Cherry-mallin kolmas sukupolvi tunnettiin Japanissa nimellä Nissan Pulsar ja Australiassa nimellä Datsun Pulsar, Euroopassa mallinimenä oli Datsun Cherry tai Datsun 100A/120A/130A/140A/150A, Yhdysvalloissa käytettiin nimeä Datsun 310. Cherry N10 oli edelleen Datsun-malliston ainoa etuvetoinen malli.
Korimallit olivat 3-/ 5-ovinen monikäyttö, 4-ovinen sedan, 3-ovinen coupe ja 5-ovinen farmari.
Suomessa auto oli todella suosittu, vaikka mitään erikoisominaisuuksia siitä ei löytynyt. Ihmisiä puhuttelivat hyvä ulkonäkö, pienehkö kulutus, hyvä varustelu ja keskimääräistä halvempi hinta. Sen sijaan ajo-ominaisuudet ja mukavuus olivat kehnot, samoin istuimet ja sisätilat verrattaessa ulkomittoihin. Melutasokin oli korkea. Silti N10-sarjan Cherryt menestyivät edeltäjiään paremmin.
