Bongo Loves Bananas!
Bongo would like to go from cache to cache visiting anywhere in the world where bananas are grown. Take a pic of him and upload it to this page living it up in banana rich countries or any banana he can get his hands on!
Bongo is a young and wild monkey who has a craving for bananas! He just can't seem to get enough. He has recently learned that bananas grow all over the world. Not just his favorite tree. So he would like to find them and eat them.
Other interesting things abouth the banana:
1.The banana plant is the largest herbaceous flowering plant.
2. Technically and botanically, the banana is a berry!
3. The most popular banana in the US and Europe is the Cavendish type due to it's resistence to Panama Disease (a rot that killed the popular Gros Michel banana in the 1950's)
4. Because the Cavendish banana is cloned over and over for it's disease resistance and not just planted from left over seeds, technically all bananas are from the same plant. And that plant is considered the worlds largest single living organism!!
5. In 2013 there were fears that the Black Sigatoka fungus would in turn make Cavendish bananas unviable making all bananas as we know it gone forever in the next 10-20years!!
