Donatello was an Italian sculptor of the Renaissance. His actual name was Donato di Niccolo di Betto Bardi. He is known for his large scale marble sculptures, i.e. Saint John the Evangelist (created sometime between 1408-1415).
A little about the Ninja Turtle Donatello- nicknames Don and Donnie. He is co-creators Peter Laird's favorite turtle. His first appearance was in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1 in May 1984. He is known for his Olympic-level agility, speed and strength, and his genius-level intellect. Besides a crime fighter, he is also a scientist, inventor and engineer. He's known for his purple mask.
