This Little Piggy has disappeared!!
This little piggy went to market,
This little piggy stayed home.
This little piggy had roast beef,
This little piggy had none.
And this little piggy went "Wee! Wee! Wee!" all the way home.
(This little piggy went missing!!)
The song is usually counted out on a child's fingers or toes. Thus, popular culture has given the individual digits the personae given in the song. The middle toe can be said to be the piggy who "had roast beef" for example, without counting out the whole song. A foot tickle is usually added during the "Wee...all the way home" section of the last line.

The poem tells of five individual piggies engaged in different activities. There are many theories as to the meaning behind these seemingly innocuous events.

One interpretation is that the first piggy went to the market to purchase roast beef for the third. The other piggies exist simply for the rhyme scheme and the levity of the poem.

However, there are more sinister interpretations. Because the poem deals with barnyard animals personified, some of the human-like activities conducted by the pigs are sometimes viewed as inappropriate. The eating of roast beef by one pig is interpreted as a certain form of cannibalism, (in this case, a farm animal consuming its equal), and is thus a tribute to the primal and wicked nature of life--as well as retributive for the prime rule's breaking such that some idiots analyze any old innocuous thing so far to its bare core as to destroy its flavor, even that of toes and other things with wings, as pigs.

However, the most popular theory concerning this poem is simply a case of misunderstandings. The piggy who 'goes to the market' is not in fact going on a shopping trip, but is being sold at market by his owner. This makes the nursary rhyme akin to ring around the rosey in that they both appear to be lighthearted ryhmes, but have a darker history and meaning.
Wee wee wee" all the way home...

A big thank you to all of you.
Keep on caching, have a great summer.

Left Little Freddy in this cache because I saw it was a Team Marzipan cache (and Little Freddy belongs to them). Pleased to see that they are keen to collect him :)

Found today, and did intend to take it back to Devon with me.... then I saw the info for this TB and realised it is supposed to return to North Wales (which it finally has)! I will hopefully move this on tomorrow before we leave for home.

Wow - a TB owned by Team Marzipan. We remember your great caches when we visited North Wales. Not planning to go that way soon, but will try to move him in the right direction.
