In the 17th & 18th century Holland was an important trading country. In 1602 the Dutchmen founded the Dutch East India Company (Vereenigde Oostindische Compagnie in old Dutch, meaning literally: United East Indian Company). The VOC was the most important trading organization from Europe with the far East.
In 17de & 18de eeuw was Nederland een belangrijke handelsnatie (zoals bekend wellicht). In 1602 is de Vereenigde Oostindische Compagnie (VOC) opgericht. Dit was de belangrijkste handelspartner van Europa met het Verre Oosten. 21 jaar lang heeft de VOC zelfs een monopoly gehad op het Verre Oosten.
