Hallo !

Day 16
Last find for the day and you couldn't pick a better one. Here we were heading for Kakadu and as we enter the park we get to do this cache.
It had been a long day. We packed up our camp first thing in the morning and before leaving Darwin went and had a look at the beach at Lee Point.
Then down the Stuart highway and onto the Arnham Highway. We stopped at the information centre at Beatrice hill to check out what they had to teach us about wetlands and we loved the Turtle dreaming Theme they had.
Then on to this cache. There were lots of fires along the way some burning right up to the edge of the road. From Beatrice hill we had learned these are "cool" burn offs that happen at this time off the year.
There was a roaring blaze going on a couple of hundred metres away from this cache. You could here the wood crackling as it went up in flames.
Then into the kakadu and heading for Ubirr to see a sunset from a lookout in an area full of aboriginal art and then camp in the bush for the night right up against the border of Arnham Land near the Border Store.

Day 15
I got up at 07:00 and went looking for the local fish market. Thought you might be able to buy off the boats but it was more a case of buying from the wholesalers in sheds near were the ships were anchored.
Bought some King and Banana Prawns and headed back to the caravan park.
Picked up Mrs Parrot and we then headed to Fannie Bay to get a ferry over to Mandorah. There is a pub over there that you can buy lunch at and the ferry comes back 1.5 hour later and you can return across the bay. We ate steak sandwiches and I had a couple of beers and moaned about the fact that the Radio Australia cache was only 5 kilometres away but I wouldn't be able to walk the round trip before the ferry got back. The pub didn't even have a bicycle they could hire me.
Back over on the Darwin side and we went for a walk along the city mall. I got a little NT key ring to attach to Skippy's lead.
Then back to the caravan park for a swim in the pool before heading back to our campsite to eat the prawns for dinner.
I then went for a drive and got some pictures of the setting sun and picked up a couple more caches before heading back to camp.

Day14
Started the day with a bit of caching in the local area. I really enjoyed Charles Darwin National Park and the old WW2 munitions bunkers.
Then back to the camp to pick up Mrs Parrot and her Step brother who lives in this city and had offered us a tour of the sights.
He gave us a great tour and during the day we stopped at Stokes Hill Wharf for lunch. After we had dropped him off I went out caching again spending most of my time in Holmes Park which contains a monsoon forest.
Then back out to Stokes Hill wharf for dinner at a restaurant called Crustaceans. We had booked a table the night before and it was right up close to the edge and we could watch all the harbour shipping passing by.
Due to all the burning off in the area when the moon came up it was a deep red.
We both ordered Barramundi poached in a white wine which was very delicious.
During the meal we could hear splashing and on checking the sea found that 3 dolphins were catching their dinner just out from the wharf.
It was late by the time we finally made it back to camp

I love a bit of rail history and enjoyed this one.
Glad that dirt road continued to the highway as I wasnt turning in there with the trailer on the back.
From here we headed into Darwin and found a camping ground.
In the Afternoon we went back into the city and attended the Mindle sunset market.
We went down to the beach to watch the sunset while we were there. It was verry pretty and the sky stayed red for a very long time.
Typing this up at 11:30pm and a possum has just walked past my chair.
