Today you hiked from Pico Arieiro to Pico Ruivo, Madeira’s highest mountain (1861m). It was a fantastic hike - rugged peaks, vertigo inducing arêtes, sheer drop offs, tunnels requiring head torches, some snow on the ground, chains for down climbing some other peaks we climbed, and incredible views. Truly one of the best hikes I’ve ever done. ⛰

After the bad weather, it’s a beautiful day in Madeira today. Took the geohiremobile to the Far East of the Island and walked out to Ponta de São Lourenço. Really gorgeous. Great seeing all the volcanic geology. 🌋

Walked from Funchal to Câmara de Lobos today because the weather was still not good. Rough seas closed a lot of the seafront path so it was a tedious walk looking for other options. Still, the poncha at Câmara de Lobos was delicious. 🌊

There are only two letterbox caches on a Madeira so I took you on a wet walk above Funchal to visit this one. At least it used up some calories from the poncha and cakes. 📬

Welcome to Madeira, Portugal! What a stunning island. Great weather today so a smooth landing at the airport. Phew. Went for a walk past the German cruise ships and along the harbour, grabbing the pirate lab caches as I went. Heavy rain is forecast tomorrow but that’s OK because we have a food tour booked - pastels de nata, chocolates, Madeira wine, and Christmas tangerine Poncha. 🇵🇹

Revisiting a cache near my home in beautiful Chiswick. I had to drop off a travel bug that doesn’t want to find their passport. It might have been their last chance while Great Britain is still in the EU. 🇪🇺

Leaving London for Staines Upon Thames in county Surrey with you today. Some days you find all the caches, but some days you wake up to a find a buffoon has won the General Election, the trains are on strike, you take the wrong train, the paths were muddy, one of the paths was completely flooded, and you get several DNFs on easy caches. 🤷🏼♀️

Well the view from the 35th floor Sky Garden of the ‘Walkie Talkie’ building in a London should be wonderful - pity about the English weather. Geocach-pro and I still had a fun time although I’d avoid the scones next time. This is a must see destination in a London but be warned, you need to book in advance even though it’s free. ☂️
