Every year the International Children's Festival of the Arts brings Arts and Cultural Hertiage performances from around the world to St.Albert - this time we would like to send a little peice of our festival out into the world. Please take these trackables far and wide so that we might share a little bit of ourselves, with you!
This year (2021) marks 40 years the International Children’s Festival of the Arts has engaged countless children, youth and the young-at-heart with the arts. To celebrate 40 years, the City is hosting 40 Days of Play from April 28 to June 6 with daily activities and prompts available online. Activities will promote safe, independent and creative play with a blend of mostly at home, visual art, creative challenges and exploration through the safe use of public trails and parks and the best part – they are free. To top off the entire celebration, 40 Days of Play will culminate with three days of virtual, interactive and international feature performances from June 4 to 6.
The 40 Days of Play activity prompts include everything you've come to expect from the Children's Festival--only in digital format! From clowning workshops to creative crafting to geocaching, over 25 organizations, businesses and artists have come together to provide engaging and imaginative offerings for 40 days straight--one day for each year the Children's Festival has been enriching the lives of kids in our community. Discover how to make an origami butterfly in celebration of Children’s Day in Japan, learn to hula hoop with the Hula Hoop Circus, bake some butterfly cookies with Wild Earth Bakery, join a special story time with the St. Albert Public Library and so much more.
