Latest Update on the New Location of the Bug. This Bug left Mesquite Nevada a few weeks ago and is now in Norton Kansas! This Bug left Provo Utah on Friday Morning June 25, 2004 with a 'Smiths' Savers card and hitched a plane in Slat Lake City Utah and landed in Denver Colorado. From here it was escorted by car along highway 70 east to Byers Colorado where it turned north along SR 36 onto the rolling hills of Kansas. The First stop in Kansas was a little farming town known as St. Francis. (See Photo) From here the bug traveled across the plains and past several 'Wheat Combine Crews'. (See Combine Photos) It then traveled onto Norton and was greeted by over 60 friends and family members and the towns population of 3400 residents. (See Tower Photos) Before being stashed at a nearby motel, the bug visited the acclaimed birth place of 'Billy The Kid' at a small hand chinked log home known as 'Station 15'. (See Cabin Photos) This was a small 2-room cabin in the middle of the dusty hills of Kansas. On Saturday the bug participated in a family reunion an luncheon at the local 4H Hall and then out to the local cemetery to pay respects to relatives. (See Headstone Photos) On Sunday June 27 the bug was given a new 'Shoppers Rewards Cards' from the local 'Pamida' (with an i) grocery store. (See Pamida Photo). Finally, the bug was securely handed over to the owners, Roland & Laura Washburn, of the local 'Hillcrest Motel' which is within very close proximety of the Norton Pamida grocery Store and local Water Tower. The Washburns are very friendly and we enjoyed our stay in their clean, comfortable and peaceful abode. When you pick up the bug from them, tell'm Hi from Digger49. We really enjoyed traveling with the Bug on this exciting adventure. GPS - WGS 84. N 39.50.107 / W 099.53.756 PS - if the bug isn't picked up by late summer, it's headed to Swedan via a Washburn Family Wedding Party!
