I placed a cache in Maplewood State Park near Pelican Rapids, Minnesota to give Elsa, the wandering gnome-girl a proper start to her wanderings. Local park lore has it, that a community of gnomes lived throughout this park in the 1970's and 1980's. Many local hikers were reported to have seen these gnomes and local newspapers covered the events. However, in time, thoughtless hikers either kidnapped or murdered many of members of this gnome group and it has now been many years since a sighting has been reported in the park. Hopefully, Elsa will find one or two of the remaining gnomes and they will help send her on her way.
