Current Goal

The One Ring seeks to find any other Lord of the Rings themed Caches or Travel Bugs in it's journey.

If at all possible, it would like to make a trip to Middle Earth (aka New Zealand).

If successful in visiting Middle Earth, it would be appreciated if it was returned to a cache in the Twin Cities, MN (where it's journey began).

About This Item

The One Ring

"One Ring to rule them all,
one Ring to find them
One Ring to bring them all
and in the darkness bind them"

The false ring that I had previously released has since gone missing, as I had assumed it might (hence why I released a copy instead of the real thing). Now I've thought of a better use for the real one, to track any Lord of the Rings themed caches. These can be related by name, location, or just a place that might make me think of Middle Earth.

While this one isn't referred to in name, the location reminds me of Gollum's cave under the mountains. Dark, gloomy, muddy, wet, damp, even fish!

Retrieve It from a Cache 8/26/2007 KC0GRN retrieved it from Not all who wander are lost Minnesota   Visit Log

This cache is named for a popular Tolkien quote. I'm sure that's relevant enough to warrant a visit by the One Ring.

Retrieve It from a Cache 4/29/2007 KC0GRN retrieved it from Fangorn Forest Minnesota   Visit Log

And the One Ring goes to Fangorn Forest, home to Treebeard. Pretty cool, there is a large tree near here that sort of resembles him. It seems LOTR themed caches are few and far between, but nice to see a new one pop up now and then.

Retrieve It from a Cache 6/28/2006 KC0GRN retrieved it from The Last Remnant of Mirkwood Minnesota   Visit Log

I've been meaning to get this cache for quite some time, as it's one of the few LOTR themed caches in the area. If only by name, but still, it was a very nice walk through the woods, just the kind of place elves would live.

Retrieve It from a Cache 4/1/2006 KC0GRN retrieved it from Frodo's Cellar Minnesota   Visit Log

Given the name, there's a direct reference to LOTR on this one.

Retrieve It from a Cache 4/1/2006 KC0GRN retrieved it from Elven Hollow Minnesota   Visit Log

Elves are in LOTR.. guess this one will work by name again.

Retrieve It from a Cache 3/27/2006 KC0GRN retrieved it from American Traveler - There and Back Again Minnesota   Visit Log

"There and Back Again" is mentioned as the name of Bilbo's book.. It's a sketchy link, but I'm grasping at straws finding LOTR caches anyway, so this one can count.

Retrieve It from a Cache 3/4/2006 KC0GRN retrieved it from Bederwood Hobbit Hole Minnesota   Visit Log

Been a long time since I've seen a Lord of the Rings named (or themed) cache. Had to dust the One Ring off a bit.
