Current Goal

This geocaching trackable patch is my personal travel tracker for the year 2021. It accompanies me from cache to cache, visiting every cache I go to, whether found or not found.  It will be retired at the end of the year with a summary of my geocaching highlights in 2021.

JAN 1, 2021 ACTIVATION

My objectives for the year are as follows:

  • Achieve 730 geocache finds during 2021 (for an average find rate of 2.0 caches per day). 
  • Add at least three new U.S. states to my States Visited map. 
  • Visit one other country or territory. 
  • Add two D/T squares to my Difficulty/Terrain Grid. 
  • Attend 12 events (average of 1 per month). 
  • Attend one Mega/Giga Event (such as Geowoodstock XVIII in British Columbia). 
  • Create one geocaching event and create three new geocaches.
  • Complete 12 Adventure Lab series.
  • Achieve 12 FTFs.
  • Acquire 12 souvenirs.

2021 GC Trackable Patch

This patch is the perfect way for me to make myself trackable and to graphically illustrate on a map my geocaching adventures wherever I go! The patch includes the official Geocaching icon with the words 'Discover Me Geocaching.com'. Securely attached to the bottom of the patch is an engraved metal strip with its unique tracking number.

Thank you for posting a discover entry and a note when you see me and my trackable patch on the trail or at an event.

Although I stopped here primarily to obtain the information needed for the new Earthcache, I decided to give this one another try. But try as I might, I was not able to locate it once again, even with the encouragement from another geocacher who did find it.

No luck with it. I looked as best I could given the traffic and donut eaters, but just couldn't come up with anything visually worth picking at to see if it was a possible geocache container.

With a policeman with his lights on right at the corner, approaching this one would have been difficult if not unwise, especially since they are out to prevent any unusual activity today (and probably the rest of the week). With my lack of luck finding any (or even being able to approach any) downtown, I might as well head back to my truck and find somewhere else to geocache. Plus I'm getting chilled riding my bike.

Found a good place to park a couple blocks away and rode my bike around to try to grab a few geocaches I hadn't found yet. But a policeman at the parking lot entrance stopped me and said the parking lot was closed down, as are many other venues in downtown today. When I asked him about it, he said it was part of the preventive measures taken to prevent any expected or unexpected problems with the "Not My Vote" crowd. So no access to the geocache today (and probably for the rest of the week).

I remember watching "Batman" almost religiously on TV when I was a kid. It was fascinating, even with the "Ka-Pow," "Slam-Bang" cartoonish images inserted on-screen in those fake fights with the arch-villains. Then, as an adult years later, I think that fascination was ruined on a visit with my young daughter to Paramount Studios (or one of those theme-park studios) when I saw the remnants of the famous Batmobile on display, which of course then looked like a cheap toy relic of the one in my memory from the TV show. And all my daughter could do was shake her head in dismay at my telling her about the show. Well, that's Hollywood. Nice hide though. Glad I didn't have to walk all the way up the hill.

Another superhero find! For a little while I thought I would end up ditto-ing the previous geocacher's DNF, but I made the extra effort, calculating the distance from previous like-kind geocaches found along the trail earlier this morning and came up with the find.
