George got us safely down the mountain and out to Maffra, long the beef cattle capital of West Gippsland and, for many years, the only beet sugar processing centre in the country. We stopped on the way to hurry an echidna off the road. 🦔

After a night at Licola (more than enough), ConnieandRick, George the 2WD car, and I headed up toward Mt Howitt in the Victorian High Country. The road was pretty rough but George battled along and we made it to Howitt Plains Hut which is the home of a very old cache that filled a gap in both our Jasmers. I love being in the high country, it really feels like I’m home. Great hiking and backcountry skiing here. Not today though, we have places to go and caches to find. 🥾

Next stop on the road trip was the Gippsland town of Warragul to the east of Melbourne. Warragul (or warrigal, worrigle, warragal) is a New South Wales Indigenous word from the Darug language meaning wild dog or dingo. We stopped at a TB Hotel and saved about ten that had been there for over four years including one of my own. I’d marked it missing years ago. Poor things. 🐕

Visited 3/24/2024 Wombatwandering took it to Mt Cannibal WherIGo Victoria, Australia - 41.98 miles  Visit Log

Road trip time! ConnieandRick (and George the car) collected us and we rolled east out of Melbourne towards Gippsland. First stop was at Mt Cannibal. How could you not stop with that name? We did fear it was called that for racist reasons but it’s actually a derivation of the name of an old farm that used to be here. No cannibals were seen, neither were any of the resident wombats, but the views were great from the top. 🍖

Back into Melbourne and then across to the eastern suburbs to catch up with friends and borrow their camping gear since Geoson has taken my Australian supply. A fun night. 🍹

Seeing Mother Wombat and had time to get to the beach at South Werribee. The area is also popular with recreational fishers. An interesting piece of trivia - around 70% of Australia's lettuces are grown in Werribee South. 🥗

Welcome to Australia, my home country. You are in my home town of Melbourne, Victoria, now Australia’s most populous city. Off the plane and straight into the city to see geoson at university. I have not seen him for several months. 🇦🇺

You went for a stroll around the Singapore harbour and up to the pool at the Marina Bay Sands, one of Singapore’s landmark buildings. Great view from the top. Then you enjoyed the peaceful non-touristy end of Gardens By The Bay before heading to the airport. No otters were spotted. I look for them every time I come to Singapore but I never see them. 🪷

Selamat datang ke Singapura! 欢迎来到新加坡! சிங்கப்பூருக்கு வரவேற்கிறோம்! Welcome to Singapore! You’ve got an overnight stay here but I had two caches that I was targeting which would take some time. First up was to climb Singapore’s highest mountain - Bukit Timah. It was a sweaty climb of 163 metres through a lovely stand of rain forest. 🇸🇬

And you are back in Manila, The Philippines, so I can repack. Fixed my friend’s missing geocache which is near my house and checked out the Jeepneys. I love looking at their decorations. 🇵🇭
