Sutherland Shire Geocaching bandage bear award, will be awarded to anyone who has had treatment from a medical professional during the current year, from an injury while Geocaching.
On Saturday, 15 August 2015 MavEtJu came up with an idea that became highly regarded amongst the local community. It was the Sutherland Shire Geocachers Moral Support Bandage Bear - TB6TG4C Description: This trackable is supposed to live with a Sutherland Shire Geocacher who is the person who managed to do damage to herself or himself in new and innovative ways during the retrieval of a geocache.Once it is in your possession please log this trackable in the the caches you found as "Visited".If another Sutherland Shire Geocacher gets hurt, please pass them the trackable for moral support of this bear!
On the 1 December 2017 Brewmaker placed it in GC7DV26 "Meet new friends" Sutherland Shire Cachers' M & G and it vanished.
GCAQ6EN 2024 Winter Wonderland, Sutherland Shire M&G, The Neighbs presented the group with a replacement, wazza9 came up with a TB tag and Nana Nel registered it as belonging to Sutherland Shire Geocachers group. SSG Bandage Bear TB - TB9FN0Z was created.Description: Sutherland Shire Geocaching bandage bear award, will be awarded to anyone who has had treatment from a medical professional during the current year, from an injury while Geocaching.A discussion took place between all those who were present and it was decided that the rules would change.
It would be open to anyone playing the game who was willing to share their experience in a write note on the trackable page. The Bear would be available for viewing at all Sutherland Shire Events to discover but no longer going into the possession of a single cacher.Every cacher who shared their story personally or through a report by another cacher as a write note would receive a Certificate of Award.
The Awards are presented at the annual Sutherland Shire Geocachers Christmas Meet and Great. If a cacher is not in attendance, it will by hook or crook find it’s way to them. Two Awards were presented in 2024.

What an adventurous year for me….
I was thrilled to receive this trackable, and as I reflected on my geocaching journey this year, I couldn't help but laugh. It's been an eventful year, to say the least!
From taking an unplanned detour off a cliff edge at Shelly scramble (ouch!) to a snake bite in Canberra while caching, multiple tick extractions, and leech bites galore, I've had my fair share of excitement.
Despite the mishaps, I'm honored that fellow cachers are thinking of my well-being. It's all part of the geocaching adventure, and I wouldn't trade it for the world!"
