About This Item

Đừng giữ tôi.  Tôi cần đi đến một geocache khác!  giúp tôi đi du lịch ở châu Á và chụp ảnh đồ ăn với tôi.

Choppie is a TB we took with us for our second adventure in SE Asia, this time we travelled through Vietnam during summer 2022. We used chopsticks to eat a lot of tasty Vietnamese food and would like this TB to accompany other geocachers to try and eat more Asian food around Asia.

Hellooooooooooo Hà Nội! We made it here for the third time, but today with enough time to stop by a few caches! This was the last of three we visited with this TB, before we run off to the east! I visited this archived stash alone in the evening while doing a grocery run while Laura was resting in our hotel.

As I mentioned in my last note, a day of traveling was ahead of us, and it took quite a while for Laura and me to get here... We took the sleeper train from Huể to Hà Nội, which was an exciting 17 hours for Laura, and a sleepless and cool experience for me. Over night, I had time to catch up with drafts and see some of the Bullfrog hunters in the dead of the night. We arrived in Hà Nội just after sunrise, and from the train station transfered to the bus station where we took the sleeper bus to Sa Pa, spending the next few nights in and around Lao Cai. After a full day of traveling, we were happy to arrive in the early afternoon at our Homestay and get on our bike to explore some of the town. We decided that even though the evening was slowly catching up to us, we had to do something today (and not just sit in transportation) and so we drove down to the valley and hiked around Bản Cát Cát and met some of the H'Mông people. We had no idea how extremely touristy and over packed with domestic (and some international) tourists the place would be; it's like the pandemic didn't happen here! A six kilometer hike later, we climbed back up towards home where we could finally get some much needed shut eye.

Today we woke up and with a full day of exploring ahead of us, decided for a rather long (and twisty, turny, climby, descendy) trip ahead of us. It was time for waterfalls! We've visited quite a few already while on our trips, but Laura was excited to add a few here in the north. And so we headed out on our 105 kilometer long drive through the hairpin turns and beautiful jungles around us, transversing an impressive 2702 vertical meters. During our trip out, we spent nearly seven hours on our scooter, and visited four beautiful waterfalls, as well as a deserted town (guess Saturdays in the countryside are at a different pace!).

First of all, we came to this location to visit one of the many waterfalls in the area with this TB. While I don't have a photo of us here together, it was a nice climb with this TB in our backpack. I'm also including two pictures of us on the sleeper train here. While not the best image, I'm sure that another nice picture to the gallery of this TB will be appreciated!

From here, it's on to another waterfall!

    • Choppie with some fruit!
    • Sleeper train!
    • Train
    • With some tiger!
    • More beer on a bus!

Today was our last morning in Huế before we got on the afternoon sleeper train and started the lengthiest leg of our journey up north. We only had a short time in beautiful Huế, but managed to drive around and see so much. After breakfast and packing back up, we had a few more things to do and places to visit, one of them being the incredible complex of tombs here in the south of the city. It was slightly bad timing since we had been in this direction yesterday, but driving around in the same direction posed no issue. And so we once again entrusted our two wheels to whiz us through the countryside. We drove and drove and the country side changed to farmlands and those soon grew to a forest. As we got closer we saw an open gate, which I sped past and drove around the water source, parking right at the wonderful statues and big building. We looked around for a while before a guard caught on to us and told us where the designated parking spot was, I suppose the place was not completly deserted. We retuned a bit and parked at the guard house, from where we headed to GZ. What a lovely and peaceful place this is, and we were happy that it was literally only us and one other family that we met during about an hour of being here. We arrived at GZ and within a minute I spotted the container which is pretty well protected against the elements and muggles. We signed the logbook and spent nearly an hour more baking in the heat around this beautiful complex. I'm happy this TB came with us and visited this stash! From here, it'll be a long day of traveling, and I'll be excited to píst some photos of the TB with us on the night train soon!

Once Laura, me and this TB were finished with our trip in Hội An, we went on quite the funny hunt to track down the owner of this archived cache. We found them, but not the cache itself, which is a shame. But, again... At least we could visit GZ..!
