Current Goal

This GeoCoin is a commemoration of the first one thousand caches Laura & I collected within our journeys together. It took us 175 days in 2020 to get to our first one thousand; and this is our physical souvenir of our journey.

While roaming around the airport, my next stop was at this larger container. Again, I was able to conveniently park nearby, not necessarily legally, but in a way that many other cars are parked and in a way that I could do what needs to be done. I ran to GZ where already from a distance I could identify exactly where the container would be hidden. I grabbed it and alas, a nice big container was in my hands. But what followed was a dance of distress and necessity; the whole area was the home of red ants, as big as my toenail. Damn, those guys were aggressive too! Each time I would see one on my shoe or pants, they would do this little dance to try and get at me and hurt me. Fling fling flick fling! I flicked them all off, luckily wearing closed shoes and long pants, but they were quite aggressive ! Nonetheless, This nice big cache container; I got it open, ran away with the logbook and inked our nick into it. A few TBs would fit in here, but I decided to hold on to you; let’s see what other cache we discover!

What a super exciting day! The start had aligned, and what was a small conversation randomly mentioned over beers yesterday became reality today. One of our work friends is just about to fly back to Mauritius for his wedding. Unfortunately he’s not a geocacher, so I cannot ask him to take a TB with him, but somehow the stars had aligned and another work colleague was persuaded to lend me his car. This worked out in my favor mostly, as just two or three weeks ago I was telling Laura how I wished I could drive someone to the airport and then geocache all day.

And unbelievably, that managed to work out and today I did just that! After dropping off our colleague and wishing him a safe flight and many wishes for his wedding, I made a quick stop at this cache. Another one of those smart magnetic 2D caches placed just in the right place. Nice!

Two identical non-physical caches here at Batu Caves for us to virtually visit; while I cannot place a TB in this cache, we did have the pleasure of coming to this location together. Returning to Batu Caves on a sunny day, today there was a single mission; visit the location to log the two non-physical geocaches. We had both the EC & this virtual in my crosshairs, and was excited to come and visit the Batu Caves. One of the landmarks of the city, I realize now sitting at home that I should have opened the WIG to see if this was one of the hidden locations to bring us closer to unlocking the cartridge. Unfortunately, I had forgotten, but I didn’t forget to take my shoes off as we explored one of the temples near the entrance, and I got a little string tied to me without asking. Inside the caves are a few examples of stalactites, stalagmites and bridged columns, we did not however see flowstone or rimstone dams (and I am not counting those three artificially pumped little streams). From an earth science perspective, it was really sad to see what was done for ‘preservation’ of the caves, as many of the natural features were paved over, of sprayed with shotcrete.

After this stop, we head home for the evening.

This country really likes tiny caches. It's hard to ever meet a large enough cache to drop a TB in. Nonetheless, as the last stop of the day, this was a smart cache. Cute field puzzle. I liked it and I was happy that this TB could accompany me here today!

came here two or three weeks ago and solved it, came to pick it up today after work for a quick outing. The nano cache and container are in perfect condition, but didn't allow for a TB to be placed in the nano tube.

Another successful find here in Kuala Lumpur, we unfortunately found only the tiny cache which could not host a travel bug.
