Sorry about the late deploy. Had to figure out how this worked and then had to find a Clifford to attach. Why a Clifford? Well, when I heard about the Unite for Diabetes project a single person came to mind. An acquaintance of mine whose last name is Howard, who drives a really big red Ford F150, who happens to have Type 1 diabetes. Mr. Howard is an interesting case. Insulin dependant since childhood, he refuses to take proper care of his disease. YOU don't have this disease, so YOU can't tell HIM anything about HIS disease. Stubbornly believing that since diabetese will eventually kill him there's no need to bother with details, lunch conversations would go like this: "Found my blood meter the other day. The strips wouldn't even work in it. They were three years old." Did I mention that he's insulin dependant? And an (admitted and proud) alcoholic? Other conversations were about the latest joint to freeze up or how bad his eyesight was getting and how the doctors soon wouldn't be able to do much more for his vision. AAAARRRGGGHHH! If he's going to commit suicide (so to speak), couldn't he find a quicker way? Many a lunch I had to get up and go get seconds to keep from reaching over and slapping some sense into him. Diabetes doesn't have to be a death sentence! You don't have to sit and watch body parts quit and fall off! Mr. Howard is not yet 40. I don't think he really plans on making it that far. So when I read about the little blue Unite for Diabetes rings, I knew what I had to do. Mr. Howard, this one's for you.
Clifford has a note on him that says, "Take My Picture". If you would please, take a picture of Clifford and post it here. Let me travel the world vicariously. Paris has its Eiffel Tower. I'd love to see what your hometown has!
