About This Item

Patchy after receiving his travel bug implant

Patchy is our first travel bug. Looking at him tells the story of his humble beginnings as the logo for our local astronomy club. He has been sitting in a drawer in my desk for the last 3 years as I was not sure what I wanted to do with him. When we started geocaching, his purpose finally became clear to me. He needs to see the world, go far places and see lots of other telescopes. Some of his personal goals include seeing the stars of the southern hemisphere and maybe one day Earth from the Moon or Mars. Who knows, maybe even make it back home some day so he can tell us of his journeys. If you move him and have a digital camera, try to post a pic or two of Patchy at the sites you take him to. Good luck Patchy! AstroD-Team

i took patchy up to the old abandoned observatory on the campus of western michigan university. they've since moved off campus to gaze at the stars because there is WAY too much light pollution these days.

  • the shack that used to house the mounts all that's left are some old wooden tripods and some pigeon nests...
  • the view this is the view from the rooftop. beautiful view on a clear fall day in michigan.

Thanks for sharing this Travel Bug at the Wisconsin Geocachers Mother of All Breakfast event on Saturday. Your travel bug is alive and doing well. Neat idea!

Picked this one up at the Mother of All Breakfasts event. There's an observatory near my house. I will see if I can get a picture of the TB in front of it before moving it on.
