RADD Race - The Little Mermaid vs Cheeky Monkey
My partner and I have been caching together since we started dating and recently we came across an amazing idea for a trackable race with yearly prizes/forfeit for the winner/loser.
The winner will be whichever tag travels the furthest distance by NYE on any given year...
Please help us travel far and wide clocking up the miles and hopefully helping The Little Mermaid WIN!!

I had to go to Petersham today so stopped at this cache. I go past this spot quite often to get to Richmond but I never get off the bus. Today was the day. Loved the huge wattle tree in flower next to the cache. Makes me feel homesick. 🚒

On this day 100 years ago, Howard Carter discovered Tutankhamun's sarcophagus. I took you to an event which should have been inside the British Museum but the Tutankhamun Curse struck again and caused us to be locked outside due to strike action. After that, it was onto the Portland Hospital with geochild for shoulder surgery. 🤕

Dim Sum lunch near Baker Street followed by a clean up of some non-smiley face icons around Angel and Islington. Weather still lovely for London in Winter. 👼

The new Elizabeth Line in London has made the Abbey Wood area much more accessible to me. You met up with Anytar and then we walked south to Welling. Nice views of London from some of the hills there. 🚇

I thought I’d find an old virtual cache today so you took the train to Kings Langley in Hertfordshire. The village is associated with various Kings as far back as William the Conqueror. One of the scenes in Shakespeare’s Richard II was set at Langley Palace. Ancestors of U.S. President Jimmy Carter with the Carter surname lived in village 1361–1588. Also, original English factory for Ovaltine was here. I finished with a walk to nearby Hunton Bridge settlement because Hunton was the surname of my first love so I felt I should visit. The things we do. 🏰

Finally a day of no commitments so I took you out caching to Abbey Wood in far east London. People have reported seeing seals, water voles, and bearded tits. I saw nothing except for the big incinerator. It reminded me of the one in Copenhagen except that there is no grass ski slope here. 🦭

I was in London and needed a virtual for my calendar so this one celebrating phone booths and letterboxes was convenient. London cachers were not given any Virtuals in the latest hand out because we already have too many Virtuals here. So HQ gave then to non locals who promptly placed them in London anyway. Fair enough, there’s lots to see here but don’t penalise those of us who live here. 🤷🏼♀️

It’s an event in Whitechapel, London for you today. It was held in the Blind Beggar Pub which is where Ronnie Kray (an infamous gangster) murdered George Cornell in front of witnesses. It is also the location of William Booth's first sermon, which led to the creation of the Salvation Army. 💷

I needed to visit Petersham and so continued onto Kingston Upon Thames to finish off some caches. Historically, Kingston lay on the boundary between the ancient kingdoms of Wessex and Mercia, until King Æthelstan united both in the early tenth century to create the kingdom of England. Several Saxon kings were crowned there including Kingston: Æthelstan (925), and Æthelred the Unready (978). 🤴🏻
