An early morning start for a trip to a James Bond 007 GeoArt/Powertrail in Essex today. Not particularly exciting scenery but the caches were good quality and pretty easy to find for for our team of five. 🍸

A muddy one for you today. Hampstead Heath is an ancient heath in London, spanning 320 hectares. Archaeological discoveries on Hampstead Heath point to the presence of a hunter-gatherer community around 7000 BCE. The area is featured in Ricky Gervais’ wonderful TV series, After Life. Found some caches then headed back into London to celebrate Goldpot’s one million caching kilometres milestone. 🎖️

Welcome back to England. A bit of a wet day but I headed into Trafalgar Square, London, for an event. Pity the event owner didn’t bother to turn up. The square's name commemorates the Battle of Trafalgar, the British naval victory in the Napoleonic Wars over France and Spain that took place on 21 October 1805 off the coast of Cape Trafalgar. 🇬🇧

You hosted an event in Ljubljana today with me. Had a great turn out in the sunshine. Then it was a visit to the archaeological remains of the Roman city that Ljubljana is built on. The Roman colony of Emona played an important role in the Roman Empire’s system of defence and flourished from the 1st to the 5th century AD. These days, they had to widen an ancient doorway in the wall to get to Lidl. Then it was up to the top of the tallest building to enjoy the views and a hot chocolate. 🐉

A day trip to gorgeous Lake Bled today. Lovely weather, didn’t even need a coat. You walked around Lake Bled, climbed a hill for a great view, took a trip out to the island, and ate some famed cream cake (kremšnita) which is basically the same as an Australian vanilla slice (or “snot block” as we call it). So lovely with the castle and the snow-capped mountains. 🏔️

Vesel božič! Merry Christmas! You spent a lovely morning geocaching and then met up with CuteOtter and climbed up to the castle. Then we looked at all the Christmas lights which are fantastic. A lot seemed to be based on space and an alien invasion. Then we walked to another area and that was illuminated by twin killing sperm, eggs, and foetuses. Truly amazing. 🎄

Dobrodošli v Sloveniji! Welcome to Slovenia! You arrived in Ljubljana last night and are staying in an apartment opposite the university. Spent the day walking about finding lab caches. Checked out all the dragons which are the symbol of Ljubljana. Saw some nutria/coypu next to the river. It’s a beautiful city and lots of people are here enjoying the Christmas markets. 🇸🇮

A last walk around Padua for you and then it was off to Trieste by train. The tracks go close to the town of Prosecco so I’m annoyed I didn’t spot that on the map and plan a stop! There was just enough time in Trieste for one last Italian find and then it was back on another train. 🚆
