So are we all about ready to finally get outside for a new season of caching yet?  Yes, I know some of you never quit, but a lot of us have been locked up for ages and we're raring to go!  The first major cache outing for us in our neck of the woods is a local event that combines caching, lots of night-caching and camping.  Getting outside with a group of friends to go caching is pretty great.  Getting outside with a group a friends for multiple days of caching is even better.  Getting outside with a group of friends for multiple days of caching because we're all camping out is the absolute best!  

May is the quintessential time to start enjoying the warmup and Memorial Day is more or less the semi-official start of camping season in the USA.  Everything is turning green again.  Wildflowers are popping up everywhere.  Wildlife is back out on full display with increased activity as the growing season begins again. Returning migratory birds are displaying their best to attract a mate while mammals emerging from hibernation are instructing their next generation on all things wildlife.  The nights are still chill and perfect for campfires.  The days are still cool and perfect for hiking.  Each day is slightly warmer than the last and summer is on its way.  It's time for camping and caching and spending time outdoors with friends again.

It's time to relearn why we love to be outside.  It's a chance to brush off your survival skills and maybe share or learn some new ones, too.  Learn some bushcraft.  Maybe brush up on your composition skills for taking some great pics of your adventures.  Time to get some fishing in again, too.  School's in for so many new possibilities and it's time to get outside and get back to what we love.  

So load up your GPS for that long hike.  Bring your swag and trackables.  Most importantly, pack your tent and rucksack to make it a whole weekend (or more!) of caching in the great outdoors.  It's a big world out there just waiting for some exploration!  Check in with your park services and hit the trail.  It's time to get back to a bit of normal with some camping and caching.  Whatever you do... just don't forget the marshmallows ;)
