Welcome to Australia! It’s great to be back in my home country. You are in Melbourne, Victoria, now officially Australia’s largest city with a population approaching 6 million people. 🇦🇺

You rode the gondola to Ngong Ping on Lantau Island. Very scenic trip because you get to see the planes taking off and landing at the airport and then several waterfalls on the hills. Once at the top, you climbed 268 steps to visit the Big Buddha. It’s 34 m high and is the second largest seated Buddha in the world. Somewhat unsurprisingly, it faces in the direction of Beijing. 🪷

歡迎來到香港 Welcome to Hong Kong! I was hoping for some more caches in Hong Kong but I failed the Chinese Government’s ‘Real Name Registration’ for using my personal wifi. Very frustrating. You spent your time finding the best cheung fun street stall and watching the lights turn on from Victoria Peak. Then you caught the Star Ferry back to Kowloon to watch the light show. 🇭🇰

Time to wrap up your visit to the Philippines. CuteOtter and I decided to visit BGC one last time (this visit) but made the mistake of getting lunch before we geocached. By the time we’d finished lunch, it was pouring. Waited for it to let up a bit before we grabbed a cache and called time. Find your passport again. ☔️

Visited 9/9/2023 Wombatwandering took it to Hail Hydrant Philippines - 2.08 miles  Visit Log

I headed to BGC to meet up with RunYell and do some caching. I like caching with him because he teaches me about Manila and knows good places to eat. Watched the dancing fountains after dark to finish off the night. ⛲️

I dragged you off to Makati today. Makati is expat central with lovely wide footpaths. CuteOtter liked the Ayala Mall better than the MegaMall near us. Phillipinos love malls. Two of the ten largest malls in the world are located in Manila. I don’t understand the obsession. Wandered around and found a few caches including a FTF then took the metro home. 🛍️

Visited 9/6/2023 Wombatwandering took it to Ifugao Hut Philippines - 5.22 miles  Visit Log

The rain has cleared so we took the ferry along the Pasig River into Manila City, visited some sights, and claimed the Phillipines’ oldest cache. What the world known as Manila is actually a cluster of 16 highly urbanized cities: the City of Manila, Caloocan, Las Piñas, Makati, Malabon, Mandaluyong, Marikina, Muntinlupa, Navotas, Parañaque, Pasay, Pasig, Quezon City, San Juan, Taguig, and Valenzuela, and one municipality: Pateros. You are staying with me at my home in Pasig. The city's name, Pasig, is a Tagalog word which means, "a river that flows into the sea" or "sandy bank of a river". 🛺

Maligayang pagdating sa Pilipinas. Welcome to the Philippines. Stopping by Manila home to visit Mr Wombat. The south west monsoon being trapped by the two typhoons to the north and its bringing in a lot of rain. We grabbed an umbrella and headed to Bonafacio Global City for an event. My 10,000th find! It was going to be a walk around but it was much too wet. Instead, we celebrated my milestone with doughnuts. A great event. Thanks RunYell. 🇵🇭

Visited 9/2/2023 Wombatwandering took it to Doha Airport Bridge Qatar - 3,251.78 miles  Visit Log

مرحبا بكم في قطر! Welcome to Qatar! You are meant to be in Hong Kong but all the flights were cancelled because it was being battered by category 4 Typhoon Saola. We were rerouted through Doha instead. Better that than danger!

Great news for you though. You’ve now been to where the 2022 Men’s World Cup was held which saw Argentina defeat France. It also highlighted how corrupt FIFA is that it ever picked Qatar. As host, Qatar automatically qualified for the event. It was the first time an Arab nation hosted the competition and the time Qatar had qualified. Qatar were also the first team to be eliminated from the World Cup and therefore became the worst performing host nation in the history of the FIFA World Cup, not winning a single game. Surprisingly, Qatar actually does have a women’s team. Unsurprisingly, it is inactive. 🇶🇦

No rest for you. You have a long haul plane to catch so it’s back to Heathrow. Grab your passport. 🛫
