My little halibut launched from Seattle and wants very much to travel to the Alaska coastline. He hopes to get as far as Kodiak and then return to Seattle for a new mission.
This halibut is made by a Pacific Northwest artist named Daniel Leen. He describes his halibut as follows: "This design is based on a Tsimshian appliqu ceremonial vestment collected at Port Simpson, British Columbia by James Swan seomtime before 1888. I had to find an illustration of a halibut as seen by marine biologists to add the fins missing from the original design. My carvings were executed in deer bone."
I myself am a halibut biologist and, as the saying goes, I launched my own travel bug just "for the halibut"
