Today was cloudy but not too cold, so we drove 'down the shore' before the rain started, to visit the Absecon Lighthouse.
The lighthouse is located at the north end of Atlantic City, NJ. It is the tallest lighthouse in NJ, and 3rd tallest in the US. We climbed all 228 steps to get the view from the top and see the 1st Order Fresnel Lens. The light was first lit in 1857 and decommissioned in 1933. The lighthouse is 171' tall, but you can barely see it today among all the tall casinos and hotels!
Um, in case you wonder about the picture, my son was holding the keychain up backwards, so it looks like it has no paint. It looks just fine on the other side :)
