Current Goal

I teach Kindergarten through fifth grades, and I would like our travel bug to travel the globe. We are plotting on a world map where our travel bug is going. If you can include any information about your area when you log in, that would be great. For example Suffolk, VA is known for cotton and peanuts. Stuff like that so we can learn about the world through our travel bugs journey. Thank you!

About This Item

I taught a lesson on geocashing and have my students eager to get started geocashing. I am excited to see where our school travel bug travels to. Have a blessed day :-)

Dropped off in Thermopolis Wyoming. We are known for the worlds largest hot spring people love to visit for a soak. We also have The Dinosaur Center where people come from all over the world to visit and do studies. The center is a full functioning dig site for bones with a lab and museum.

I picked this up in the beatiful little community Greenacres near the southern Oregon coast. This area has a few small dairy and cattle ranches, but its main industries have been forestry products, fishing, and tourism. The lumber boom has long since ended, and most of the larger mills have closed down. I will post some pictures of the ocean, sand dunes and other local scenery before sending this one on its way.

    • Fishing boats near Coos Bay, Oregon
    • Pacific Ocean at Coos Bay entrance While the lumber industry was near its peak in the 1950's - 1960's this was a very busy port. Billed as the "World's Largest Lumber Shipping Port," ships loaded logs & lumber products for Asia and South America. Most mills are now closed, and the few international ships now load mainly chips.
