Visit penny smashers everywhere and maybe even the squished penny museum in Washington, DC or out to Marky and Joani in San Jose CA for a geocaching penny. I'm not a smashin' bigot, though. If you're not into smashing pennies, just have a look at my cargo and move me around the country.

About This Item

Smash a penny, take a penny. Sure, it will cost you 50 cents, but in return you can take a penny from one of our excellent science museums here in Raleigh/Durham, NC (or something someone else has added).

Most of the time these "pre-perforated" pennies will come out of the smasher ready to be put back on the chain.

If the hole has become too small, it can usually be enlarged by prying against the narrow sides with a small screwdriver or similar slender metal instrument.

The website is well-done and interesting on its own merit. Visits to the museum are by appointment only. More details on the site.

Smash a Penny Locationless cache
If you find a smasher that hasn't already been reported, you can also log it as a locationless cache find! The logs for this cache contain tons of coordinates for penny smashers.
