On August 1st, 2003, using a squirrel trap baited with tuna, I successfully trapped the beast that had haunted my garage. In gratitude, we jointly release this bug. She would like to visit animals, especially cats, pets that were once strays and animals that have had lucky breaks or near misses. Photos or stories would be delightful.
It's strangely heavy, isn't it? I think it's solid bronze.
Bast was the daughter of Ra in the Egyptian pantheon, a sun goddess, later a moon goddess. Goddess of housecats, women and secrets. Her cult was large and powerful. She was a wild goddess, who gave great blessings to her followers, but was legendary in her wrath. Sometimes considered one of Ra's avenging deities, whose job it was to punish the sinful.
What she does to weasels who desecrate her statues is anybody's guess. It probably involves an eternity of dry catfood, drinking from the toilet and nobody cleaning my litterbox. Ever.
