It is not my mission to offend anyone on my journey. My owner feels it in his heart to share his story. He is sending me out far and wide in hopes to support or educate others. As all people are different so are those roads o recovery. Please feel free to post your thoughts and your feels.
In 1991 I got into drugs at the age of 19, using as well as dealing, married for a little over a year and 2 kids. I was also bouncing between jobs and housing with my wife and kids. My wife decided in February 1993 it was time to get herself and the kids away from where I was headed. Then shortly after she left me in March of 1993, my life came to a halt in a violent car accident provoked by drugs. Shortly after a long surgery session to put me back together, I awoke to see my wife at my side again. After a week in the hospital to talk, she would take me back if I would move down to where she settled, in southern Oregon. It was there that I decided to take on drinking alcohol instead, being convinced that it was not as bad for me. The next few years progressed until times became worse then ever for myself and my family. Once again bouncing between jobs and houses. The more I drank the more life I gave up, the more hope I threw away for my family that wanted me healed. Now, a little over 27 years old and 3 children. I became suicidal in my alcoholism. Near death one more time my wife of 9 years now had to wrestle loaded firearms from my grip. It was the morning after that last episode that I realized the healing I needed could only come from one person. It was only through the grace of Jesus Christ that I would be set free. At the very moment I came to realize that, I could feel Jesus in front of me with his hand out, saying “ I have been waiting for you”. We were led that morning to “ Open Door Community Church ”. A year in the church and we got baptized as a family, knowing that our lives had changed forever. Jesus lived , died and rose again for all of us. We just need to do our part, ask for him. Now at the age of 34 I have been able to work my way up a growing career. For the past 5 years the family is now stable with no more worries of where we will live or how we will eat. I thank our lord everyday for the wife and kids he has given me, and for the body of his church. I thank the Lord for keeping his promises, even for a man like me.
