The bushwacking adventure started in High Point, NJ. Its a state park located at the highest elevation in the state. At 1,803ft. The wind was really whipping! After two quick finds team Jerseytrex hiked over to another part of the state forest to locate one last cache. We ended up parking only about a mile from ground zero. The only problem is that there was no direct trail from the area we were in. No problem! "We'll bushwack through it!" WRONG! We started through a rocky valley and ended up treking across 90 degree inclines, swampy bogs, and waist high brush. Needless to say we were totally spent when we finally dragged ourselves to the top. The cache was easy. Found it after relatively short search. Dropped off the Jeep TB and enjoyed the beautiful views nearby. Before we knew it, it was 5:30PM and we were starting to lose daylight big time. So instead of walking the trail like average Geocachers, we decided to just head straight back the way we came in. The whole way back we were mostly enveloped in a nasty swampy area full of skeeters and ticks! I kept waiting for Yoda's head to come pop out and declare, "Fools you are, for not studying the trail maps first!" Anyways, we ended up crashing back out onto the narrow gravel road from wence we came. It was a trek we have done only once before as rookies to this sport. I guess we hadn't learned our lesson. Now we will never forget, Stay on the trail! Otherwise its a "Temple of Doom" situation full of muscle pains and headaches. My legs are cramping up, got to go. Have fun and Happy Hunting!
