About This Item

Facts about Helmet Use:

An approved helmet lets you see as far to the sides as necessary. A study of more than 900 motorcycle crashes, where 40% of the riders wore helmets, failed to find a single case in which a helmet kept a rider from spotting danger.

Most crashes happen on short trips (less than five miles long), just a few minutes after starting out.

Even low-speed crashes can be fatal. Most riders are going slower than 30 mph when they get injured. At these speeds, helmets can reduce both the number and the severity of head injuries by half.

No matter what the speed, unhelmeted riders are three times more likely to die from head injuries than are riders who are wearing a DOT approved helmet at the time of the crash.

I'm afraid this one has been kidnapped. It's sad to think a fellow geocacher would do this.

Motorcycle helmets have been compulsory in my home state, Queensland since 1942. Simple reason, people keep dying on motorcycle, a helmet improves those chances. As a former police officer, I've been to fatal accidents with motorcyclists. Without a helmet, there's nothing saving you.
I'd be proud to move this coin on to a land where motorcycle helmets are compulsory.

Brought my girlfiend Ann (now hooked to geocaching...her name will be TeamTripleA) here to Marian Bear Park for a little exercise/geocaching day for us. This was out 1st find and I couldn't hit 600 without the Squidlet so we stopped at 599 today "on purpose." We did a game of "Here we go round the oak tree" until we found it but find it we did. Hooray for us! SL. Took a TB "Toadies Wild Ride" and left a pink snake that I got in Seattle. We were on the watch for snakes today and luckily didn't see any but did see a TON of poison oak (be careful!), stinging nettles, and had a tick on me (euww!) that I found at a restaurant later when we stopped for lunch. Had a great day. TFTC here and the TB too!
