Snoopy ist die Hauptfigur im Charles M Schulz' Comicserie "Die Peanuts".
Er ist ein Beagle und gehört Charlie Brown, dem "kleinen rundköpfigen Jungen".
Snoopy verbringt seine Zeit überwiegend damit, auf dem Dach seiner Hundehütte zu liegen, auf Essenszeit zu warten und über Gott und die Welt zu philosophieren.
Er gibt oft vor, eine bestimmte Person zu sein, etwa Das Fliegeras des Ersten Weltkriegs, das die Welt vor Dem Roten Baron beschützt, ein berühmter Schriftsteller, der weltbeste Supermarktverkäufer,  Joe Cool oder viele andere Charaktere. Das geht sogar soweit, dass er verneint, ein Hund zu sein.

Schulz fasste Snoopys Charakter 1997 in einem Interview so zusammen: "Er zieht sich in seine fantastische Welt zurück, um zu überleben. Andernfalls müsste er ein dumpfes, elendes Leben führen " (Gary Groth, "Charles Schulz at 3 o'clock in the morning". The Comics Journal: 27)

Snoopy is the main charakter of Charles M Schulz' comic series "The Peanuts".
He is a beagle and belongs to Charlie Brown, the "little roundheaded boy".
Snnopy spends his days lying on his doghouse's roof, waiting for food time and philosophing about world and mankind.
He often pretends to be a person, like The Flying Ace of WW1 in his Sopwith Camel, protecting the world against The Red Baron, a famous novelist, world's best supermarket seller, Joe Cool and many other characters, he even sometimes negates himself being a dog.

Schulz summed up Snoopy's character in a 1997 interview: "He has to retreat into his fanciful world in order to survive. Otherwise, he leads kind of a dull, miserable life." (Gary Groth, "Charles Schulz at 3 o'clock in the morning". The Comics Journal: 27)
