Welcome to Overlook Park!
This beautiful little community park sits in the very southeastern
corner of Geauga County in Parkman Township. It offers picnic
shelters, softball fields, basketball, tennis, and volleyball
courts, a playground for the kids, and porta-potties during the
warmer months for your refreshment. I find the park to be
especially enjoyable shortly before sunset, as the light is just
barely breaking over the trees in the distance, shining on the
fields across the street to the west.
Overlook Park hours are sunrise to sunset. Absolutely no night
caching is allowed! Some stealth may be required if the park is
full of visitors, particularly in the warmer months. Please do not
try to access the cache from anywhere but inside the park. Also,
there is absolutely no need to set foot outside of the park to find
this cache. If your GPSr leads you beyond the fence toward private
property, you are in the wrong place!
The cache is a camo'ed matchstick container with no room for trade
items. Please bring your own pen or pencil and replace the cache
exactly as you found it.
This cache is one of six in a series that you will need to find to
determine the final coordinates of "70's One-Hit Wonders: Have a
Nice Day!" Each of these six caches contains a set of lyrics
from a song that was made popular by a one-hit wonder group or solo
artist in the 1970's. All of the lyric clues can be found in the
log sheets. Using this small section of the song, you must
determine the song title and ultimately the year that the song
reached its highest position on Billboard magazine's Top 40
list. The last digit of that year will be the number you seek to
gain the final cache's coordinates.
Although some of the songs may have been remade by contemporary
artists, each song was originally made popular in the 1970's, and
the year of its popularity is what you must find. Please do not
give away any of the lyrics, song titles, or years in your logs or
they may be deleted! However, if you had a favorite song by a
one-hit wonder of the 1970's, or just a favorite 1970's song in
general, please feel free to mention it in your find log.
All of these caches were placed in October of 2006, to commemorate
the year of Geauga County's bicentennial. I hope you enjoy your
caching journey through the beautiful and historic Geauga County.
Watch for the special bicentennial banners as you make your way
between cache locations. If you find all of the caches in the
series, including the final, you will have visited at least six of
the sixteen townships in Geauga County, including a trip through
Middlefield Village.

Note that some of the hints for these caches are actually song
titles from 70's one-hit wonders, along with their year of
popularity. These hints will not help you solve the lyrics
or the puzzle to determine the final cache location, but hopefully
they will help you find the cache at hand if you're having
difficulty.
