Olympic Blvd Bridge

Built in 1925, this reinforced concrete arch/T-beam bridge exhibits character-defining features of Beaux-Arts bridge design. Located on Olympic Boulevard as it crosses the Los Angeles River between Boyle Heights and Downtown Los Angeles, the bridge rests on four vertical piers in an open spandrel arch form and in a T-beam form on several smaller vertical piers. The deck of the bridge exhibits a sculpted concrete railing with heavy double-bellied Classical-style balusters separated by perforated round forms with incised S-shaped foliate petals. Nine pairs of octagonal decorative light fixtures surmounted by large engaged globes sit atop monumental decorative pylons.

Originally titled the "Ninth Street Bridge," the bridge was renamed the Olympic Street Bridge in honor of the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics.

Unable to locate. With all the homeless in the area and increased awareness of bridge security, perhaps it's been removed. This cashe is within walking distance of my office and I will double check on Monday.

I had some free time and decided to grab a few caches in an area I don't usually frequent. I laid out a route and spent several hours, but only got 6 finds. This was my first. The most time consuming part was finding parking in the right area.
