Geocache Description:

Griffin Peak may not be the highest point in Columbia County but it does offer a great view of the Walla Walla Valley and the Palouse.

Cache is a 30 caliber ammo can stocked with the usual trade items. This is a great one to do just before dusk then set up a chair on the ridge and enjoy the sunset. You can see the silhouettes of the Cascades, Mt. Adams, and Mt. Hood as the sun sets when the conditions are right. You can also see the lights of Hermiston & Umatilla after dark.

The road is maintained for cars and there is plenty of parking & camping space here:
N46°05.146 W117°54.217. There is a nice trail leading up to the top of the ridge and then turns south toward the cache.

Directions from Dayton:
Turn south on to Fourth St. from Main (look for "SKI" sign)
Road becomes North Touchet Road past city limits
Follow North Touchet Road (FS #64) past Bluewood turnoff & past the junction with #46
Gravel Road will eventually turn to the right and become #6436.
