Geocache Description:

This is the last of the fourteen caches that comprise the Shore to Shore Geochallenge. Finding and logging it will represent the culmination of your efforts.

The cache is not at the listed coordinates

This final cache in the Shore to Shore series is a true Multi Cache. Most so called multi's ask you to find one or more intermediate stages on your way to finding a cache and thus are in reality, multi stage caches. To find this cache you must first find, with the opportunity to log, 13 discrete caches. The container is an locked ammo can located near the Hopkins Creek Trail Camp. Hopkins Creek is a feeder of the Manistee River, the camp is near the mid point of a spur of the Shore to Shore Trail that runs south from Sheck's Place to Cadillac.

The Michigan Shore-To-Shore Trail begins at Lake Michigan in Empire and ends more than 200 miles east at Lake Huron near Oscoda.The trail was created and is maintained by the Michigan Trail Riders Association in cooperation with the DNR. Closed to motorized traffic, it passes through meadows and forests where possible and uses roadside shoulders where necessary.

Commemorative high quality S2S T shirts have been created and have been be presented to ten members of the first teams to complete the challenge.

The cache is not at the listed coordinates

In 16 of the containers in the Shore to Shore Geochallenge you have found a letter/number code. Arrange the letters to spell out "HOPKINs TRL CAMp, WXYZ. This will give you the coordinates where you will find the cache and the combination to unlock the ammo can. Be aware that on our final check the coords were off by 20 feet. The numbers 0000 are lined up under the lock, please leave them in this position when you are finished. Once you set the combo you have to push in on the shackle to pop it open. And, as with all caches, please leave the container at least as well hidden as when you found it.

Major kudos to Dar and Terri of Photo Bug 2 for accomplishing the Challenge on the first day it was out. Thanks for being so understanding on the Beta test and red flagging the bugs. Two shirts ordered, eight to go.
High fives and a well done to Capt. Bud who took three days but did it solo. Third shirt ordered, seven left. Andy of Soggy Boots scored the fourth shirt just ahead of Rusty and Libby and Team CoyChev. Then there were two. Farm Boy and Teacher narrowly edged out lost-in-woods but generously left a shirt for them. Additional shirts may be obtained at a cost of approximately $20 plus tax and shipping by contacting Jen Tees (888) 536-8337 or jenteesmel@sbcglobal.net and mentioning the Michigan Geocaching Organization shirts.

The fourteen caches in the S2S Geo-challenge are;
Empire, Garey Lake, Lake Dubonnet, Sheck's Place, Rapid River, Goose Creek, 4 Mile, Luzerne, McKinley, Gabions, South Branch, River Road, Oscoda,
And the final at Hopkins Creek
