The
Wayward Wanderers
of
Melderyn
present:
Fables
Fables are a huge part of The Wayward Wanderers lifestyle. Many a
night are spent around the fire spilling mead and telling tales,
much like nowadays. Back then life was much simpler although social
classes were strictly adhered to. The more important the person was
in society, the longer his name became. The following fable has
been passed down for years, and even has a cache placed in its
honour. Perhaps you can figure out the location of the cache by
reading the fable.
It was a rainy, cool night when the messenger showed up at the
house of Drarm Strong. Drarm was the local healer in Tren o
Leetling and looked after any health issues the Clerics or even
Mages could not rectify. The messenger had been sent by Jud gewar
Grave, a very wealthy and influential merchant. The messenger said
his employer had been sick for 4 hours or more and had a terrible
fever. Drarm grabbed his bag, harnessed up his 1 mule cart and set
off for Jud gewar Grave’s house. Jud gewar Grave was staying
at his hunting lodge almost 17 Lebons from the town. The stubborn
mule was slow and it took three hours to get to the lodge. Drarm
found Jud gewar very ill. Drarm had been practising medicine for 44
years and had not seen someone quite so bad. It was imperative that
this man be saved, as he was very influential in the upcoming
treaty negotiations in the stoppage of the Dolilolula Wars of 678
of the 3rd age. Drarm sent the messenger to In-di-an Lake, about 10
Lebons away and told him to bring back a specific fish that he
would require to make a very potent elixir for the sick merchant.
Meanwhile Drarm wrapped Jud gewar in Elephant Ear leaves and poured
a mystic potion on the sick mans eyes. After 7 hours the messenger
returned with his catch and Drarm mixed all the ingredients
together and slowly had Jud gewar Grave sip the concoction. After
about 2 hours Jud gewar started feeling better and eventually
recovered fully. He attended the treaty negotiations and after 17
days the dispute was rectified and further fighting stopped. Jud
gewar Grave and also Drarm Strong were considered heroes while the
messenger only got the leftover fish.

The Wayward Wanderers were a group of Rangers from a bygone
Dungeons and Dragons era. Coming from the Kingdom of Melderyn, near
the Never Ending Forest, in the mystical Land of Noth, they used
their skills in tracking and living off the land to quest by
themselves or to help others find gold, gems and other treasures,
much like the modern day cacher of today. Their free spirit and
inquisitive minds allowed them to develop many of today’s
modern ideas and conveniences. A little sneaky at times, they have
left several puzzle caches for the modern day cacher to
enjoy.
