Geocache Description:

WE WERE WARNED...

The Tattoine Incident was an event that occurred in Tatton Estate, Cheshire, UK on the night of 14 February 1953.  There were sitings of 2 Unidentified Landed Objects (ULOs) and the subsequent discovery of 'The Device of The Dark Side' within The Estate.  The Incident came to my attention recently when I was bequeathed a copy of a top secret UK government report into The Incident.   Pages of this report have been hidden in a 3 stage multi-cache in Tatton Park: GC16ZTC: The Tattoine Incident.  This Wherigo cartridge complements the existing cache but allows a more interactive tour.   It includes an additional bonus cache which is exclusive to the Wherigo experience.

In addition to providing details about The Incident itself, the tour also includes extensive information about the other features and attractions of this beautiful part of Cheshire.  The starting point is at the main car park which is at the coordinates given on this page.  Please note the Park is closed on Mondays during the winter. There is an entrance charge of around £4.20 for cars although access on foot and bike is free.

For those of you who are unable to visit the cache in person full details of The Incident and further research resources are available on Pandemi's website: www.pandemi.co.uk.  You can download the cartridge from the Wherigo website here.  The cartridge plays in the emulator which you can also download from the website but you will really need to access the pages of The Report on the ground or from Pandemi's website to understand what is really going on here.  Any comments reference bugs, useability and so on would be gratefully appreciated.

THIS CARTRIDGE HAS BEEN FIELD TESTED AND WORKS FINE NOW BUT AS WHERIGO IS STILL IN DEVELOPMENT IT CAN BE A BIT UNRELIABLE. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU DOWNLOAD THE LATEST VERSION BEFORE SETTING OUT AND, JUST TO BE ON THE SAFE SIDE, SAVE THE CARTRIDGE AFTER EACH STAGE SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO GO BACK TO THE BEGINNING IF IT DOES LOCK UP.  ALSO PLEASE NOTE THE SIMPLE DIRECTIONAL INSTRUCTIONS AND/OR COORDINATES WHICH ARE GIVEN AT EACH STAGE IN CASE THE GPSr SHOULD LOSE ITS BEARING.

THE TATTOINE INCIDENT SERIES

The main cache is 'The Tattoine Incident: 1'. This will take you on a 2 hour journey around the original landing site and describes the incident that occurred in Tatton Park in February 1953. A recent example of the activities of The Dark Side is visible at a related drive-by cache nearby called   'The Tattoine Incident: 2- Further Evidence' (now archived) where you once were able to inspect at first hand the first Earthly application of The Device.  If you still aren't convinced that there are things going on that we should be seriously bothered about, then visit   'The Tattoine Incident: 3- & What's Going On Here?!'.  Here you will see evidence of a large Earth monitoring system and an abundance of mutant creatures. 'The Tattoine Incident: 4- Wormhole' and 'The Tattoine Incident: 5- Wormhole Approach Beacon' will help explain why this part of the country is of such importance to The Dark Side.  I have adopted a cache at 'The Tattoine Incident: 6- The Bongs' where there appears to be a Dark Side training facility and finally there is a large object which will cause you extreme alarm clearly visible at 'The Tattoine Incident: 7- OMG! WMD?!'.

To complete your research there is 'The Tattoine Incident: 1- Wherigo'. This is an interactive geocache which has been developed using the Wherigo system. The tour will take you around the original 3 stage multi-cache and provides you with additional information about Tatton Park and The Incident. It culminates with an additional bonus cache which is logable.

Full details of The Incident and the subsequent activities of The Dark Side are available from Pandemi's website (www.pandemi.co.uk). Here you can access extensive resources including photos, videos and original documents.  You will have every reason to be concerned.

Good luck & 'May The Force Be With You'...
