About This Item

Leopard

Speak for those who can not speak for themselves…

The Leopards are a beautiful and very powerful wonder of our earth.

Leopards are found on the African continent as well as in parts of Asia and Russia.
The various habitats of the Leopards mean different appearance and size of the animals.
The Leopard is divided into many sub-species.

The African continent has the largest Leopard stock, unfortunately there are no knowen up to date figures.

Fact is there are only about

  • 50 Amur Leopards (Russia)
  • 80 Caucasus Leopards (Asia)
  • 200 Java Leopards (Indonesian Island)
  • 500 Sri Lanka Leopards
  • 180,000 African Leopards (divided into 10 subspecies)

Unfortunately, this completly unique species is threatened with extinction.

The Leopards were hunted for a long time, between 1975 and 1990 there were approximatly 90,000 annually killed for their coveted coats. At the present time however, the threat of hunting has declined. The main threats today are the destruction of habitat and slaughter of these animals because of man´s fear.

The livelihoods of many people living in cohabitation with the Leopard is their livestock. Therefore, Leopards and other Big Cats are considered a threat to the peoples´ existence.

The most countries with a Leopard population also have a indescribable level of poverty among their people, this is also a reason for poaching.

Some people in order to feed their own families kill the animals and these are then sold on the black market for a lot of money.

If we do nothing not only will the subspecies die out, but the complete Leopard family will disappear from our planet.

Take action and help preserve endangered animals.

Extinction is forever !!!
