I read through all of the caches in our area (Wenatchee) to see which one I wanted to do for my first find. I could not pass up looking for We're Rockin Now! because it deals with February 3, 1959 when the music died. You see I was born on 2/3/1959 at 10:45am so it was only natural I find this one first. I exchanged the ceramic shoe and plastic frog for a Leavenworth patch, a We Care Bible and a copy of Don McLean singing...what else but...American Pie. I put the cache in a large ziploc bag so it would hold the CD. Thanks for a walk through memory lane. WARedBear...part of The Smith Bearie Bunch

Second find for my first week of geocaching. I went to this one specifically for the travel bug. My first one. I will be sending him on his way eastward to Cape Cod. My daughter, Skittle Bear, went with me for her first cache find. It was an easy find once I worked off of the GPS lat/long readings and not the arrow pointer. You do not have to climb the fence for this find, HINT: use the green gate, it is not locked. Exchanged the travel bug, the 51 cents and the heart ring for a We Care Bible and a plier keyring. FTF Took me two days of hits and misses but I finally did it. What a first week of geocaching. My first find dealt with my birthday, We're Rockin Now. I picked-up my first travel bug at Cash Mirror and this, my third find, was a first finder for a new cache. Yahoo!!!!! Caution--look out for spying eyes when searching for the final cache.

Had to visit my favorite store so we thought we would go after a cache while we were in the area. Exchanged three of your marbles for four of ours. Purple Bear and I used to collect Antique Carnival Glass so we left two carnival colored marbles...only thing is they got too close to some extreme heat. Third of nine finds today. Rough road but our 4x4 van made it okay. View was not the best because of low cloud cover. Took a rock sliver and left a We Care Bible.

WE DID IT!!!!! this time. Fifth of nine finds today. We are not familiar with Niskibum's or the other listed way of caching so it took us an hour to find it. Great idea for a cache...environment friendly. Took the Indian Head penny and left a memory keychain and a bottle of PreScriptures.

Skittles Bear and I found this on our one day Spokane visit. I had a Travel Bug heading east to deliver. My coodinate reading on this cache was a little different. We got to within 20 feet of it using the posted coords. I pegged it at N47°40.550 W117°12.115. WHEW!! Pant, pant, pant. This was my firt 4 star terrain cache. Nothing like a 445 foot climb to get the juices flowing. There are two trails to take and of course I took the straight-up one. Needless to say Purple Bear did not make the full climb up. All of the snow is gone so the trip up is easier(??). Needed a signal mirror for my backpack so I traded one I found in the cache for a mini A&W Rootbeer Mug. I also covered the cache to conceal it better. Red Bear of the Smith Bearie Bunch

This was Purple Bears first find by herself. She pointed out the location and I retrieved it. I used to walk all of the trails down here for exercise. There is a lot of wild life to be seen early in the morning. Little did I know there was a cache lurking in the woods waiting for me to find it. The snow had removed any cover there might have been so I covered it back back up so it could not be seen. Purple Bear took the Where's George dollar bill. She had never heard of them. Had to park on the road .40 miles from the cache because the road in was still covered in snow. We had to hike through the snow all the way up. My GPS got real squirrely about half way. It pointed to the south, then west, then north, over to east and back to south. I used the original bearing and ignored the others. I also watched how far away we were count down so I knew we were heading right, even though the GPS was telling me to turn right. Finally we got down to about 150' and the unit started counting back up so this time I turned. Luckily the snow was melted where the cache is located, otherwise we would be posting a no find. Took small deck of cards and left a Koosh doll and a dime that we found on the way up to Der Cache III earlier.
