1887 Glessner House Musuem - Architect Henry Hobson Richardson died shortly after making this home and has been a cold presence in the home.  A white apparation has been seen on the stairs and in the master bedroom.

Battle of Fort Dearborn Park

1998 - Harry Caray's ghost has been seen along with other dark figures in the bleachers.  Unexplained cold spots throughout the park.  

Security guards have reported that the bullphone will ring late at night. The bullphone is a direct phone line from the dugout and cannot be dialed from anywhere else.

Jane Addams learned quickly that the bedroom she slept in was haunted. She would hear footsteps late at night and would often see ghostly figures in the room. Other people started noticing that the mansion was haunted. It was discovered that Mrs. Hull, the original owner of the Hull House, had died in the bedroom that Jane Addams slept in. The ghost was actually harmless and the people inside the Hull House learned to live with Mrs. Hull's ghost.

A rumor had spread that Jane Addams had taken in a deformed orphan. The baby was believed to have horns, hooves, scaled skin and a tail. The people in the area called the child "The Devil Baby" and was the inspiration for Roman Polanski's 1960s cult movie "Rosemary's Baby". Rumors ran wild about this child and people claimed to have seen him in an upstairs window. Jane Addams denied there was an orphan child in the Hull House but people continued talking about the mysterious baby in the window.

The Chicago Water Tower is one of the only structures to survive the great Chicago fire intact. It is also said to be haunted by the spirit of a man who committed suicide in it years ago. Passers by have reported seeing what looks like the body of a man, hanging in the tower, through one of the the windows.

Fort Dearborn Massacre

The haunting of the old fort is said to involve the troops that were killed by the Indians.  This is the area of what is now Wacker and Michigan. The massacre site around 16th and Indiana remained calm until workers who were repairing the street unearthed some human remains. Carbon dating placed these remains back to the early 1800's, possibly victims of the massacre.  Soon after the discovery, people started to see ghostly apparitions fleeing across an open lot on the site.  The reports claimed that people who passed by saw pale figures moving about the area.  Some of these figures have been seen running around in some form of fright. Their mouths are wide open, as if yelling for help, yet nothing is heard.  The apparitions are said to be dressed in early settler clothing and have been seen around the east side of this present day intersection.  This site is currently a parking lot along the railroad tracks by 16th and Indiana.

Christmas Tree Cache

1880's Bloody Mary.  Mary Worth was a notorious witch who lived on a farm west of Gurnee in Lake County in the mid-1800s. Prior to the Civil War, she would capture runaway slaves and torture them in her barn. Outraged locals took the law into their own hands and burned her to death. Some say her bones were buried in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, but others say they were buried on her farm.

1950-60s Edinburgh Castle pub owned by Frank Giff, an alcoholic.  He died in one of the booths in his pub.  Glasses would fly around and break by themselves.  Vodka and other drinks would disappear when nobody is around.  Younger women feel cool unseen hand on their knees.  Cold spots.

March 6, 1972:  Father Kellen apparently fell asleep at the wheel of his car as he was driving back to Joliet.  At about 4:10 am, his car left McCarthy Road near Lemont and struck a garage, a tree, and the telephone pole.  His car erupted into flames, and Father Kellen was killed.  He was 33 years old.

Hull House

1920's kidnapping and buried alive leading to the death of Bobby Flank.  His tomb is in Rose Hill Cemetery.  He has been seen playing & running around the cemetery from the 1920s-1971, after that is when his last killer died from Cancer.

Illinois Spirit Quest: Roe's Hill

1880, six-year-old Inez Clarke was struck and killed by a bolt of lighting. Little girl statue disappears from inside the box, most often during thunderstorms. There are other stories of children telling their parents about a little girl they met wearing old-fashioned clothing by Inez's statue.
