Awesome cache!! Extremely well thought out, took a LOT of work, thought and planning. Really got a laugh out of me, too, which always is frosting on the cache! It was quite a hike, but well worth it!


100 Aker Wood

This one wasn't quite the physical challenge that it first promised to be, but I was actually glad for the two primitive ladders (see gallery).  I was a long way from home and caching alone, so I didn't want to get TOO risky.  Still, it was enough of a challenge to leave me with a feeling of accomplishment.  Oh yeah... as with most Black Hills area caches... a wonderful view as well!

11th Hour Cache

I didn't even find this one, yet its going on my Cream of the Crop bookmark because of the fabulous (and at times, risky) hike way up near the top of the mountains.  You'll be following an old narrow-gauge railroad bed on this one, and traversing a couple of gorges with long since washed out trestles lying in pieces below you.

Annie Creek Railroad Cache

A long,steep hike up the mountain on a road that would be a difficult trek for a properly rigged 4WD.  On top, first an old mill, and then the mine.  Quartz & big flakes of mica everywhere, so many things to look at that you'll need to remind yourself to look for the cache first, and then play!  Gorgeous view from there of the other mountains, too!

BlackHills Mines #2 (Ingersoll Mine)

Do it at night, or don't bother.  Here's my DNF log:

This may well be my best DNF ever!
Night caching with a nearly full moon, 50's, dry & clear. Fighter jets taking off behind me with their purple-white flames searing the night sky, a railroad train rumbling past, the white noise of the 200' long waterfall in the dark in a strange town. What an awesome DNF!!!

How Low Can You Go?

The most physically challenging cache that I've found yet, after over 1700 caches.  A grueling hike followed by a hair raising final ascent, with a spectacular view for the finish.

I found it with LucidOndine, FirstBase, Shoestorm, and Millah.   Its a very clever, and tough hide.  Had us all fooled for quite a while.
