360 degree's - Spanish Peak LOT

Developed in the 1920's with a cupola cabin, an L-4 cab replaced it in 1937, with a catwalk added later. It is staffed every summer, and is listed on the National Historic Lookout Register.

7754 - Table Rock

Developed in 1934 with a cabin, a 3-story frame live-in ODF cab was built in 1959, only to be burned by vandals the same year. This identical replacement, built in 1960, is staffed every summer, presently by the Ochoco National Forest.

Aldrich Mountain Lookout

First used in 1930 with a 30' pole L-4 tower, the present 30' treated timber tower with R-6 flat cab was moved here from Lake Butte in the 1970's. It is staffed every summer.

Antelope Mountain Lookout

1940: frame cabin. Moved to West Maury Lookout in 1954. Gone.

Arrowwood Point

Developed in 1931 with a 45' pole tower and 8x8' cab, this 41' treated timber tower with R-6 flat cab, built in 1959, is was used during emergencies in to the 1990's but has been condemned. It is listed on the National Historic Lookout Register.

Bald Butte Lookout

Visited 4.27.13

This 70' crow's nest tree platform, built in 1937, is still there. An accompanying frame cabin living quarters was relocated to the Ochoco Ranger Station.

Black Mountain Lookout

Established in 1927 with a Region-5 cab which is still there and listed on the National Historic Lookout Register, construction of new 50' pole tower with octagonal cab began in 1996, continuing for several years. It is staffed every summer.

Calamity Butte Lookout

1930: pole platform. Abandoned 1940s. Still there.

Craft Point Lookout

1930s: firefinder, cabin. Gone. Wooden platform still there.

Crane Point Lookout

Built in 1929, this 40' pole tower with 7x7' cab has long since been removed.

Drake Butte Lookout

This 70' steel tower and accompanying ground cabin living quarters, built in 1932, are staffed every summer, although it was unstaffed in 2011. The tower is listed on the National Historic Lookout Register.

Dry Mtn

Built in 1941, this 60' treated timber tower with L-4 cab is staffed every summer. It is listed on the National Historic Lookout Register.

Dry Soda Lookout

Constructed in 1933, this 15' pole tower with L-4 cab is presently available on the Recreation Rental program. It is listed on the National Historic Lookout Register.

Fall Mountain LOT

1933: cabin. 1941: L-4 cab. Destroyed 1967.

Fields Peak LOT

A crow's nest tree platform (still there) was used as the first lookout in the 1920's. A 20' L-4 tower was built in 1933, along with a 30' L-5 tower 1 mile to the east (also referred to as Snowshoe L.O.). Then in 1966, the present 53' treated timber R-6 flat was constructed. It is staffed every summer.

Flagtail Mountain LOT

Built in 1940, this 100' treated timber tower with 7x7' cab along with ground cabin living quarters was staffed every summer until recently. Note the accent angle of the stairs at the bottom compared with the ones near the top!.

Frazier Point L.O.T.

A cupola cabin was built here in the 1920's, replaced by the present 10' all-steel live-in cab in 1957, which is available for emergencies. It is listed on the National Historic Lookout Register.

King Mountain Lookout

1925: 10' Supervisor Hall 14x14' cab. 1931: 20' pole L-4 tower. Patrols 1/2 mile northwest and 1/2 mile southeast. Destroyed 1950s.
