Introduction
If you have cached in the area, you no doubt have done caches
placed by
Dosido. Now, you may think he is a creative guy, but no...
those containers are all custom designed and painted by his
daughter, Alexa. If you have read some of his and my
logs at the Five Bridges caches, you know we have had a ball
caching, some of the most fun for me, with his kids.
Last fall, while doing Crop Circle's
CRC caches. I learned that not only did Alexa decorate
containers, but created some custom wooden coins to place in
caches, and made a cache to bring to school for Show and Tell! WOW,
this kid is into caching!
Comments at a recent event by a Cape Cod based Cacher, have
prompted me to re-examine my cache container decorating skills ..
but what is a guy to do?
The offer that could not be refused!
I had asked Alexa a while back, what the going price was for a
decorating a ammo can. The answer a Googolplex, ... and
that did not even include the ammo can ... I had to provide one!
What an entrepreneur! Ah, but I had something up my sleeve, an
offer she could not refuse. So through Dosi-Mom, and behind
Dosido's back, I offered to "help" Alexa put up a cache. All she
had to do was decorate a ammo can I would provide! I got the 30mm
ammo can painted, dropped it off a the Dosido HQ, and let Alexa von
Rembrandt do her thing. She even got brother Will involved. This is
her cache.
This cache is part of a group of caches in the Palmer Wildlife
Management Area off of Rondeau Road. It is a nice area for hiking,
bird watching and - if you have young kids - in the summer, frog
watching, or stone skimming – in the winter sledding. The trails
here are mostly 4WD type, with rocks and ruts. Kids should have no
problem walking the trails. Dosido put some there a few months
back. As he said "Spending a few hours, or an afternoon geocaching
and exploring without having to drive all over the place is a real
treat, and we hope you enjoy this area". His nearby caches describe
the area better than I can, so if you have not done so, visit the
pages for his caches. This cache is one of my contributions to this
wonderful area! If you've done Dosido's
Fox Hill Micro, you'll know just the place to park!
Ceremonial FTF
There will be 2 FTF's. Since Dosido is unaware of the cache, and
will find out just as you are, we would like to allow him to be the
Ceremonial FTF. Please hold off until his log is posted. Then the
cache will be open to all.
The Cache Proper
No tricks or puzzles, no climbing, or red herrings, just a
traditional .30 cal. ammo can, hidden in the traditional way.
There's room for most regular size travel bugs, and trade items.
Since this is a "Kid Friendly" cache, we are stocking it with
trinkets, that hopefully kids will like.
