This cache is part of a series of four caches. The first three
caches of this series--each based on a type of puzzle found in most
newspapers-- are this one,
Miller's Crossword, and
Superstar Jumble. Each of these caches contains a clue you need
to find the final cache of the series,
The Final Chapter.
This puzzle is, obviously, a sudoku. You may or may not have
realized that there is no reason that the symbols inside a sudoku
puzzle have to be numbers-- there's nothing mathematical about it.
Any different nine symbols or pictures will do.
This being a FilmFans cache, we'll use actors. But not the big
stars that get all the attention and big money. We'll use some
members of another important part of the movie industry, the
Character Actors. People that you never learned the name of but,
when you see them in a movie, you might recognize the face and
think to yourself, "Hey! It's that guy!" (There is an amusing web
site about these types of actors-- I've included a link here in
case you're interested, but clicking it will not help you solve the
puzzle or find the cache.)
So, the first step to finding the cache is to solve the sudoku
puzzle:
Now, translate the faces into numbers using the following key.
Beside each face is the actor's name and a few of their memorable
appearances.
Finally, take the sets of numbers from the colored spaces and
put them into the line below to find the cache coordinates.
Stay on the trail. Your feet don't have to leave the path
for you to find the cache.
When you find the cache, be sure to note the clue on the inside
front cover of the logbook. You'll need this to find the last cache
in this series,
FilmFans' Triathlon: The Final Chapter
And hey, if you've got a favorite "That Guy" actor, give them a
shout-out in your online log. (And of course it's OK if you just
have to describe them because you don't know their name!)
There is no FTF prize in this cache (it's a triathlon, not a
