Geocache Description:

A small cache at a location special because of its reference

One of the most interesting caches I've found was Deer Flat
This cache was established in 2001 and had been found twice (2001 and 2002) before Eli and I (independently) both found it in April '07.

What made it special?
The cold river to cross and virgin forest to struggle through? Sure, but there was more!
The cache container and log? Hardly! Apart from their NZ geocaching historical interest. (Maybe worth visiting now that it is Eli's lunchbox!!)

However it's location is very special!!
- it is at a degree confluence, i.e. exactly on a whole number of degrees both south and east (S 45° 00.000 E 168° 00.000 in this case).
There is an excellent site, The Degree Confluence Project, that is all about them.

We don't have any degree confluences here in Dunedin, but there are a couple of minute confluences. This cache is located at one of them.
Seemed an appropriate place to put the FTF prize I got from WallaceDuo's Cache Mastery 402 - Navigation
