This series is the sister series to the local landmarks series. Unfortunately, caches in this series will not qualify for LL's because they have drifted into the vast expanse of time. Gone but not forgotten.
This place was so a part of my childhood I can't even fully describe. This was a traditional American Restaurant with a twist - Ice cream. The best ice cream in the world, or at least how large my world was when I was 10. It was family tradition to go to this place twice a year - once for my birthday, once for my brother's. The reason? Birthday boy got a free ice cream.
Super Sundae's and Super Sodas were always on the menu. And believe me, when they said "Super" THEY WEREN'T KIDDING!!! I'd never seen glasses that big. They must've used a whole bottle of hot chocolate fudge on one of those suckers! The Sodas were like a milkshakes and HUGE-MONGOUS! Aww man I loved this place.
Sadly, the Restaurant closed some years ago and is now replaced by a freakin' coffee shop with roots in Seattle! YUPPIES drinking coffee in place of glorious ice cream! Argh! Cest La Vie. Seems the only thing I can do to commemorate this bastion of my childhood is place a cache here. I'd like to hear about any memories you may have of this place in your logs if you were ever lucky enough to come here before it succumbed to commercialism.
Cache was placed with a Garmin GPS w/ approx 20 ft accuracy and adjusted slightly w/ Google Maps.
