This drive-by cache is located in Fairview Cemetery in Dunkerton, Iowa.

The filming of Country, the movie

This is the third in a series of caches placed at film locations for the 1984 movie Country, starring Jessica Lange and Sam Shepard.

Country is a sobering look at farms in crisis. The tragedy of the mid 80s farm crisis was that some farmers were not able to cope with the loss of their livelihood. The movie Country artfully depicts the human cost of financial strain, the hopelessness shown by families who have reached the end of their financial rope.

The funeral of Arlon Brewer (Jim Haynie) was filmed at the crest of the hill just to the south of the cache location. Filmed in November, this bleak windy location was the perfect back drop to the desolation the Brewer family felt as they faced foreclosure.

The cache is a micro. This is the first of this type that I've placed and I'm a little concerned about the durability. Be gentle when you open it and don't replace the top too tightly.
